FAQs

What does Generator offer?

Generator is a space where businesses and start-ups can work, learn, network, and get support to start and grow their business.

Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) in partnership with Manchester City Council, Generator’s range of services helps businesses to progress - whether they’re developing a new idea or have been trading for several years. Venues provide workspaces, events, and workshops, one-to-one business information support, expert advice on intellectual property and legal matters, and access to over £5 million worth of business databases.

Generator’s flexible spaces are adaptable to suit different needs and working styles, whether that means focusing without the distractions of home, hosting meetings, or using shared facilities. In addition, Generator offers tailored business support and guidance across a wide range of topics, and can signpost users to valuable resources.

What sets Generator apart as a tech hub?

Generator is a dedicated independent space for pre-starts and start-up businesses to work, learn and network with others to develop their plans and take their business to market.

With flexible workspaces, meeting areas, and an informal community area for networking or just having a cup of coffee with like-minded entrepreneurs, Generator offers an ideal environment for small businesses. It acts as bridge between existing support available through the Business & IP Centre (BIPC) at Manchester Central Library and the next stage of operating as a fully independent business.

Early-stage founders often seek connection, collaboration, and peer learning. Generator meets these needs by offering a low-cost, accessible space where members can work alongside like-minded people and learn from one another.
