People Powered AI: Showcase & Next Steps
Join us to learn more about Manchester's pioneering People's Panel for AI, and understand its implications for delivery in public service and beyond.
Manchester City Council are one of the first Councils to incorporate the voice of residents and people in its decision making around AI. The Manchester's People Panel for AI is a group of residents from different walks of life empowered with knowledge on data ethics, bias, and algorithmic transparency who generously offered their expertise to consequence scan and questions the use of AI public facing services.
With the first set of People's Panels complete, we're excited to share the key learnings, benefits and impact of the Panel's activities.
In this first sharing session, the project team will share the how, what and why behind the People's Panel, our first round of presenters will share what they've learned from the experience, and finally, weβll pitch what the future of the Panel could look like.

AI for All
Could Artificial Intelligence be used to confront some of the biggest challenges facing society today?
AI has exploded into public consciousness in recent years. Generative AI tools like Gemini, Copilot & ChatGPT are now household names. While the use of AI presents certain ethical challenges and risks, it also has the potential to unlock extraordinary benefits for our city.
We believe that when used ethically, advances in AI can β and should - be leveraged to build a more healthy, prosperous, and sustainable future for everyone.
AI for All is our call to action for developing AI systems and approaches that prioritise human ideals, needs and participation. The event will provide opportunities to hear from leading voices in the field through presentations, project showcases, and panel discussions.
While our agenda isn't yet live, we can promise a day of trailblazing, thought-provoking, and inspirational talks!

If you're eager to learn about the possibilities, challenges and ethics of AI, and have ever wondered:
What AI means
Whether it can be trusted
How it impacts you
We'd love to invite you to join an Artificial Intelligence Community Roadshow!
From banking to healthcare to education, AI is increasingly becoming a part of our everyday lives. With technology rapidly advancing, it's not always easy to keep up with the pace of change.
At Manchester Digital Strategy, we don't believe that anybody should be left behind. We want to demystify the world of AI and make the digital world more accessible for all.
To achieve these aims, we've teamed with up with Manchester Metropolitan University to offer Manchester residents the opportunity to work with researchers to develop a better understanding of what AI is, what it can do, & its relevance to people outside of the tech world.

What's Next for Data Centres in Manchester?
Data centres are the backbone for all digital activity, but are often underutilised, serving the interests of businesses worldwide rather than the needs of the communities in which they sit.
In collaboration with techUK & Datum, we're bringing together data centre representatives, technology experts, businesses, organisations, and public bodies for a valuable roundtable discussion on the role of data centres in our city.
If you're interested in better understanding the challenges data centres are facing, and exploring the ways in which they could support regeneration, innovation and growth in Manchester, don't miss out on the chance to join the conversation.
