Providing laptops to local parents at Beswick Library
Working with Community Computers, we've provided six laptops to local parents at Beswick Library as part of the Making Manchester Fairer Children's and Education Kickstarter.
The laptops were donated by our partners, Community Computers who refurbished and loaded these devices with Microsoft Office and other useful apps. Community Computers is a non-profit initiative operated by Renewal North who refurbish used devices and provide them to low-income residents for as little as £60, while championing sustainability.
With the support of our Digital Champions, we were able to help parents set up their new Microsoft Surface Pros, bookmarking school sites and running them through online safety training from Learn My Way, to help keep their family safe and secure while they navigate the internet. Parents and children will be able to use these laptops to access many digital utilities and tools that we some of us take for granted, and the parents will be able to aid in their children’s educational journey, building long term digital confidence.
